The Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China organised the 28th Gala for Gardeners of the Chinese Nation from the 23rd to the 28th of April in Chongqing. The Secretary for Education, Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, together with a delegation of 21 principals from secondary schools, primary schools, kindergartens and special schools in Hong Kong participated in this event. The Gala aimed at promoting professional exchanges and cooperation among Chinese education practitioners from across the country and overseas through interaction and sharing. The activities of the Gala included thematic research sharing, school visits, cultural field trips, enterprise visits, cultural performances and variety shows.
The Gala held a seminar, which was the most important cultural exchange event for participating principals and teachers to share their research findings. Outstanding research essays would be selected and compiled into an anthology. This year, there were more than 140 essays submitted to the organiser. Our school principal, Ms. Cheung Pui Shan, whose research essay was selected as one of the outstanding papers, was the only awardee among the Hong Kong’s representatives. The news of the prize was published on the Government Press Release and Sing Tao Daily. The essay is titled ‘Opportunities for Principal to lead the implementation of STEAM’, illustrating the development and excellent outcome of STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) at CCC Ming Kei College.
