Deciduous (落葉) tree
A large (wide-spreading) crown of compound (trifoliate, 三葉) leaves
Flower petals at first white, then light yellow
Flowering period : March to May
Fruit : a berry, about 6 cm long (seldom develop seeds in Hong Kong)
A good roadside tree, a shade tree
[ In Taiwan, fishermen use its wood to make small fish model as bait to catch squid, hence the name " yu mu ".]
[ In Yunnan, young leaves are gathered for making pickles, hence the name " shu tou cai ".]
