 2.      Guidelines for library users

The libraryˇ¦s resources and facilities are shared by the entire educational community of MKC. To ensure each individualˇ¦s right to equal access to materials, in an environment favourable to research, all library users are expected to comply with the following basic guidelines:

(a).    Show courtesy and consideration to others at all times.

(b)          Work quietly and use time profitably.

(c).    Do not socialize, play games, carry on discussions or practise plays or speeches. Other areas of the school building are available for these activities.

(d).    Do not bring bags, food or beverages into the library.

(e).    Return materials, equipment and furniture to their proper places before leaving the library.

(f).     Leave tables and carrels uncluttered, ready for the next user. Items left unattended will be picked up and removed from the library.

(g).    Photocopying of library materials should be done in compliance with the Copyright Law.

Students who disturb others in the library will be asked to leave the library and not return for the remainder of that school day. Repeated disturbance or misuse of the facility will result in the loss of Library privileges. The administration and parents of the student will be informed of this action. The student will be readmitted to the library when the librarian is satisfied that the student is willing to comply with the expected library behaviour.

Remember, fair and effective use of the library is based on mutual respect for individual rights and an understanding of oneˇ¦s own responsibilities.

Borrowers are responsible for returning their borrowed material(s) on or before the due date. Fines on overdue materials are calculated at $1 per item per day. Overdue notices will be sent to borrowers as soon as possible. Non-receipt of such notices will not be accepted as an excuse for waiving or reducing fines. Moreover, any defer in payment of the overdue fines will lead to a suspension of the total borrowing right. Borrowing right will be resumed upon the payment of the overdue fines.
