Discipline, safety and hygiene

The dissection of rat is potentially risky. However, by following precautions, one can practise it safely and gain some worthwhile learning experiences.

Wear gloves.

Turn on the water tap slowly to avoid the splashing of water.

Upon completing dissection, the wax blocks must be cleaned with soap (or detergent) 

and stacked up with good ventilation.

After cleaning, the dissection instruments must be returned to their respective containers.

Dispose of the rat bodies and tissues debris properly.

Thoroughly disinfect the bench surface.
