Karma (bamboo plate)

According to the definition of Cambridge Dictionary : in the Buddhist and Hindu religions (彿教, 印度教), karma refers to the force produced by a person's actions in one of their lives which influences what happens to them in their future lives (業, 因果), it also has the meaning of fate, destiny (宿命, 命運). The word has been assimilated into Chinese culture (納入中國文化) and in everyday language (日常用語, 不一定涉及宗教), it seems to have the meaning of " a state of encounter or relatedness as a result of some underlying converging, contributing factors ". (This is the interpretation of the present web-editor). 因偶發原因 (circumstantial factors) 而出現的局面, 相會, 便是 "緣 ", 沒有甚麼科學根據, adding nothing new, 卻 " 好使好用 ", " 令人心安 ".  So, " 惜緣 " simply means treasure the encounter, or natural affinity among friends. The following bamboo plate inscribed with Chinese calligraphy was given to me by a group of six after they returned from a Taiwan trip. This web-page expresses my thanks. The souvenir is now hanging on the wall of room 214.
