The wandering Jew, Zebrina

This is the plant that is often used in secondary Biology experiment. As the under surface of the leaf is deep purple (with the pigment anthocyanin), those cells are often used to demonstrate plasmolysis.                  Its common name " wandering Jew " implies its wide spreading, colonising nature of growth.

Leaves are not necessarily green. Here is another species (not Zebrina).
