The Chinese indigo (靛青)
This little plant is nearly without features. It has nothing to capture one's attention. However, from its common name 馬藍, one may guess that it is related to the Chinese idiom " 青出於藍 ". For the dye (染料) " 青 " (indigo) is prepared from the leaves of the plant species " 藍 " (Strobilanthes cusia).
