The limpet
The limpet belongs to a class of the Molluscs (Phylum Mollusca). Cellana sp. (below)

The hard shell is made up of Calcium compounds (hence it is called a calcareous shell).
It looks like a cap which encloses the animal.
The shape shows distinct asymmetry, an adaptation to survival against the pounding waves.

This specimen came from Cheung Chau 2010. It may be Cellana grata.

The muscular foot at the ventral side is a powerful sucker that attaches the limpet to rock.
